BPCC Hosting Therapeutic Yoga Thursday Evenings

Boston Pain Care Center is hosting therapeutic yoga sessions for our patients. This is "gentle yoga" to help regain flexibility, posture and strength. You will focus on breathing to relax the body and calm the mind. A hands on approach used in conjunction with the classic yoga postures.

At Boston Pain Care yoga includes:

  1. Postures-Practicing postures combines gentle stretching and controlled movements to increase flexibility and help correct posture.
  2. Breathing exercises-Awareness of breathing helps to achieve calmer, slower respiration which aids in relaxation and pain reduction.
  3. Relaxation and meditation-Learn to relax and reduce stress while focusing your mind on movement control.

How can yoga help people with pain?
Yoga can stimulate the brain and spinal cord to secrete natural painkillers. Slower controlled breathing relaxes muscles and reduces tension. Inclusion of relaxation techniques helps you to develop self-awareness to increase your performance.

Our Therapeutic Yoga will be offered every Thursday night from 6:15 - 7:15pm. The cost is $10 per session payable at the time of the session by cash or check. Please register prior to class as space is limited to 15 people.
